I know that I can’t buy a ticket today, but if I could, I would. Today, the third trailer came out for the upcoming Christopher Nolan movie. Glimpses of the movie through teasers and trailers have shown us a future Earth that’s in trouble. Like serious trouble. The US has turned into a dustbowl with people in masks, water apparently scarce and dust storms menacing small towns. Every time I see those scenes, it makes me want to cough.
Here’s the latest trailer.
So, who does the world turn to for salvation? To help lead them to a better life somewhere in the stars? Matthew McConaughey of course! Not the skeptical preacher from Contact, thank goodness. He is, however, a father who makes a choice between being with his children now or potentially saving their future. Spoiler… he flies into space. Get it… Interstellar!
I have watched this trailer three times now. Each time when I finish, I utter a quiet, “Dude.” I haven’t seen a movie like this that makes me feel a sense of wonder at the size of the universe and our place in it for a long time. I can’t wait to feel small in the theater.
I can’t help but watch these trailers and think of the size and story of some of the most successful movies. I wonder if this has the chops to be a billion dollar movie? My bet… it does.
What do you think? Is Interstellar on your must-see list for this fall?
