You may have never heard of The Kings of Convenience, an acoustic duo from Norway. And I’m certain that you will struggle to pronounce their names: Erlend Øye and Eirik Glambek Bøe. The music they make, though, is magical. Their voices and guitars perfectly complement each other and seem to make a more symphonic sound than those four things combined should make.
This “Soirée de Poche” was filmed in Paris in September of 2009 around the release of their second album, Declaration of Dependence.
The songs play perfectly in this intimate setting. My favorites include Boat Behind, Cayman Islands and Mrs. Cold. The scene stealer, though, isn’t from the album. Their cover of Free Fallin’ is really amazing. Be sure to watch through the whole thing. What an amazing experience as a member of that audience. That’s why this performance is my TBT concert.
What was your favorite part of the show? Do you have a concert of musical event that you regret having missed?
