So, I’ve been watching the developments from somewhat of a distance on the development of the new Star Wars trilogy. I didn’t have the strong negative feelings like some about the prequel that most did. Did I love it? No. But that didn’t keep me from enjoying it.
Then, Disney bought LucasFilms and the Star Wars franchise. I was happy that this would mean a continuation of the story, but wasn’t jumping for joy. I wasn’t afraid of the over-commercialization of the franchise – I mean, this is Star Wars we are talking about. This is the franchise that took merchandising to an all new level. How much more commercial could it get?
Next, they brought in JJ Abrams. Love his movies. Love his television shows (even the finales!). I even love the lens flares in moderation! I didn’t think that this disturbed some sort of mystical barrier between the Star Wars and Star Trek worlds. It’s a big universe… there’s more than enough to go around. Even with all of his little leaks of images and thoughts from the set, I stayed interested, but not obsessed.
But then this happened…
JJ… don’t f&@# this up. I believe.
If you haven’t seen the trailer yet (GOOD GOD! WHY HAVEN’T YOU SEEN THE TRAILER YET?), watch the whole thing below.
Now, it’s time to see if I can find all of those old sites that gave me the goods during the development of the prequel. See you soon, TheForce.net!
What did you think of the trailer? What are you most excited about in Ep VII? What are you the most concerned about?
