It’s been an incredibly hectic first half of the year. So hectic, in fact, that today is the first time that I’ve been able to check in on the A.V. Club’s fifth installment of A.V. Undercover.
A.V. Undercover, for the uninitiated, is an annual video series that features modern (mostly alt/indie) bands selecting songs from a list to perform in a small room with excellent, graffiti-covered walls. This year’s songs include personal favorites like “West End Girls” by the Pet Shop Boys, “Alison” by Elvis Costello, “A-Punk” by Vampire Weekend and “I Wanna Be Adored” by Stone Roses. None of those have been covered yet, so I’m eager to see who picks them!
The cream of the crop so far has to be Lydia Lovelace’s cover of Echo & The Bunnymen’s “Killing Moon.” Take a look for yourself.
I hope you’ll keep tuning in to see what happens next. It’s a lot of fun, but only if you have time to go down the rabbit hole.
