Family Tradition: Library Mary Has a Blog

July 13, 2014 — by The Social Clymer

While not steeped in much history, my daughter has decided to follow in my footsteps and try her hand at blogging. If I had to bet, I’d say the chances of her being successful are much higher than mine.

The idea for her blog stemmed from a conversation about her reading, or rather lack of reading.  She really didn’t enjoy reading books or the idea of stringing the words together into stories.  Broke her dad’s heart. Of course the entire time we were talking, I knew she was itching to get back to the computer to see how she could learn to create another craft for her American Girl dolls on YouTube.  A light went off…

That’s how LibraryMary.com was born. I told her that I’d be happy to set up a YouTube channel and a blog for her, but she could only do reviews of books that she had read.  We had talked about the idea for some time, but now have it off the ground with Episode 1.1 published and getting views.

If you have kids in the 7-12 range, I hope that you’ll share her blog with them.  Who knows… she might just help find a good book for one of your special little ones.  And, if you have any suggestions on additional books for a fourth grader to read, I’m all ears!
